Terry Abeyta and Rod Nelson Celebrate their 35 Year Law Firm Partnership

On March 17, 2017, friends, family, attorneys and staff gathered to celebrate Central Washington Personal Injury Attorneys Terry Abeyta and Rod Nelson on their 35 year law firm partnership and friendship. Special guests attended a dinner on Friday to commemorate this milestone.

In 1981, Terry Abeyta left a larger law firm to begin his solo personal injury practice in Yakima.  Over the next year his business grew, and so did his need to hire another attorney.  On a chance encounter in 1982, Abeyta met another young attorney, Rod Nelson, and they began talking about the possibility of working together.  The two met for lunch, and Abeyta ultimately offered Nelson a position with his firm. “You face some decisions in life that you reflect on and think ‘I made the right decision.’  That decision, to join Terry in the practice of law, took me down the right career path, and led me to a very successful partnership,” Nelson commented.

In the early 1980’s, law firms did not engage in advertising.  “We were the first law firm to advertise in Yakima, but we knew we were doing the right thing,” reflected Abeyta.  “The way to build an outstanding personal injury law practice is to let people know what you’re doing; do what you say you’re going to do; and most importantly, do it better than anyone else,” said Abeyta.

“The success of Abeyta Nelson,” continued Abeyta, “is due to the quality of the people working for us, and the quality of the practice of law.  I am very, very proud of our reputation as outstanding Central Washington personal injury attorneys – not only in our region, but throughout the entire state,” added Abeyta.

“I’m very thankful for our staff who make us lawyers look good,” said Nelson, who acknowledged Abeyta Nelson employees.  “And of course, no business works without the support of family, for which I am grateful,” Nelson added.  Both Terry Abeyta and Rod Nelson thanked their families and friends, attorneys and staff within the firm, and thousands of clients over the past 35 years who have made Abeyta Nelson Injury Law the successful law firm it is today.
