Abeyta Nelson Raises Awareness about Drunk Driving and Car Accidents
Every day in the U.S., 28 people are killed in car accidents by drunk driving, accounting for over one-third of all auto accident deaths in the U.S. In 2015, 10,265 people died in drunk driving crashes, and in fatal accidents, the highest percentage of drunk drivers (30%) was in the 21-34 age category.
Nationwide, the number of drunk driving deaths has been cut in half since Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) was founded by a grieving mother in 1980. Many deaths and injuries caused by a drunk driver involve a decision – a decision to drive drunk or to ride with a drunk driver. That’s why Abeyta Nelson Injury Law is sponsoring Mothers Against Drunk Driving “Bike, Walk or Run Like MADD” 2017. One of 60 events across the country, the purpose of the event is to raise awareness and take a stand against drunk driving.
Yakima’s event will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sarg Hubbard Park. Participants will bike, run, and walk to remember those who have died, and walk alongside those who have to learn to walk again as a result of drunk driving. You can even be involved as a “virtual walker” or by making a donation to another walker or team. Go to www.WalkLikeMadd.org to register or make a donation.
Please join us for the MADD event in Yakima. And, if your family has lost a loved one, or a family member has been hurt by a drunk driver, call Abeyta Nelson Injury Law.
