Abeyta Nelson Injury Law attorney Terry Abeyta recently filed suit against the Grandview School District see the story on KIMA TV.
Two former Grandview High School students allege that in 2016 their former teacher, Zachary Joseph Sybouts, sent them inappropriate communication and photos of himself, made advances and requests for sex, and used his position as a teacher to groom them.
Further, the lawsuit accuses the Grandview School District of negligence, particularly in violation of Title IX – which exists to protect students in schools from gender discrimination. The suit also claims that school administration failed to adequately investigate or reprimand Sybouts, even after he admitted to inappropriately interfering with an investigation ultimately conducted by police in March 2016.
The two former Grandview High School students are seeking damages at a future trial for mental and physical pain and distress, mental health expenses, and educational and vocational impairment.
